The Pandemic Year brought a lot of boredom and creative sadness to my life. When things started getting safer, I decided to produce, direct and conceptualize a series of Shakespeare Works with modern music sprinkled throughout. I convinced a couple friends who own a bar to let me put on these shows in their garden, built sets, created a specialty cocktail menu inspired by the plays, choreographed, sewed costumes, and did the damn thing with a group of friends and actors who then became friends. So far we’ve produced A Pop Punk Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo, Juliet & Weezer, both exactly what they sound like. I’m currently developing my next Shakespeare musical which will combine Hamlet with the songs of those dubbed the “27 Club.” I’m excited for more opportunities to develop and bring interactive, accessible, fun theatre to people in bars…or wherever!
